UAE Ranked Among Top 7 Countries for Foreign Tourist Spending

As announced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter)
by the UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this achievement highlights the strength
and diversification of the country’s economy.
“In 2024, the total foreign tourist expenditure exceeded AED
217 billion (approximately US$59 billion), while domestic tourists spent an
additional AED 57 billion,” Sheikh Mohammed emphasized.
He noted that the UAE has surpassed countries with
centuries-old tourism histories in this regard. “We welcome tourists and
investors, we are open to highly skilled professionals, and we are creating the
best environment for living and traveling,” he added.
According to the WTTC report, the tourism sector’s
contribution to the UAE economy is expected to reach AED 267.5 billion in 2025,
nearly 13% of the country’s GDP.
Moreover, more than 925,000 people are expected to be
employed in the travel and tourism sector—26,000 more than the previous year.
Domestic tourism is also growing: local tourist spending is
projected to reach AED 60 billion, which is 47% higher than in 2019.
WTTC President Julia Simpson noted that the UAE continues to
set global standards in tourism thanks to its “high-tech cities, advanced
infrastructure, hospitality, and efficient visa system.”
