Smoking ban

In Latvia the law on a smoking ban in public places and rooms extends. It is forbidden to smoke:

  • in entertaining clubs, cafe, bars, hotels and other institutions;
  • at street stops, at distance of 10 meters from buildings, in parks and gardens, playgrounds;
  •  near municipal and public institutions.

Alcohol

  • In shops alcohol can be bought from 8:00 till 22:00, at night (after 22:00) alcohol in shops and other places of trade isn't on sale.
  •  At restaurants and cafe alcohol can be got and after 22:00, but only for the use on a place.
  • Alcohol in Latvia is on sale to persons is more senior than 18 years.
  • In the majority of settlements and cities of Latvia (including Jürmala and Riga) it isn't allowed to drink alcoholic beverages in parks, squares, other public places (except cafe and restaurants).
  • In strong alcoholic intoxication the police of self-government can detain the person.
  • In Latvia it isn't allowed to take the wheel in an alcohol intoxication, the admissible amount of alcohol in an exhalation for the driver of the vehicle makes 0,5 per milles and if the experience of driving makes less than 2 years - 0 per milles.
